Working for First Swim

First Swim is a fun and vibrant place to work with plenty of opportunities to develop and advance your skills as both a Swim Teacher and as Front of House staff. All our swim teachers complement their teaching shifts with additional front of house shifts. We’ve found this is the best way for staff to learn everything from teaching our curriculum in the water to plant room operations to barista and receptionist. By understanding and working across all areas of the centre this gives our staff a broader view of the business and an opportunity to really be part of the team.

Who are we looking for?

Passionate about teaching and working with babies, young children and their parents
Strong communication skills, works well with others and as part of a team with a positive attitude
Previous experience as a Swim Teacher is ideal but not essential
Previous experience working with babies/toddlers is ideal but not essential

Rewarding career choice

Seeing babies and toddlers grow in confidence, both in and out of the water, is truly rewarding. The babies enjoy the bonding time in the water with their parents and the toddlers love getting positive reinforcement after every lesson with a high five or a much loved First Swim sticker for great swimming!

The daily interactions with parents is also hugely rewarding as they enjoy the help and friendliness of all our staff, whether that’s a chat about specific water skills or a new developmental phase or simply serving them a cup of coffee after their swim.

We’ll also cover your Safeguarding training, Paediatric First Aid training and other CPD modules depending on your swim teaching level.

Lessons are designed using sensory play, physical contact, positive stimulation and fun, to help nurture the special bond between you and your baby and promote their development needs.
